What this paper is about

Edit What this paper is about Content

This paper develops skills from the first year, to develop three particular areas in Theatre; performance, writing and directing. Students get the chance to engage with all three disciplines in an end of term site-specific showcase that runs over two evenings.

The emphasis in this paper is developing the students' creative, technical and critical skills in a supportive environment.

How this paper will be taught

Edit How this paper will be taught Content

This paper is taught in two parts. The first half of the paper is a series of short lectures, discussions and workshops designed to develop specific skills in performance, directing and writing. The second part of the course is dedicated to the development of performance pieces for the end of trimester.

The paper is face-to-face only, due to the nature of the work undertaken. It is important to attend classes as the skills developed are sequential and structured. Students need to come prepared to move, so appropriate clothing should be worn (jeans don't tend to work, nor do skirts and dresses. Best are loose, warm, stretchy clothes). Classes are held in the Playhouse Theatre, so students should come prepared with water to stay hydrated.

The topics and week structure listed below are indicative of the paper's contents, and are subject to change.
